Robert Macmillan Koch is a passionate collector of ancient artifacts and a Businessman based in Basel, Switzerland. Since 1981, Koch Collections has specialized in ancient arts of African and Oceanic origin.

Dr. Robert Macmillan has successfully amassed an impressive collection of artworks from various corners of the globe, spanning continents like Africa and Asia. Among his notable acquisitions is the famed Fang Mask from Gabon, a masterpiece of African artistry, alongside several other rare and exceptional pieces. Dr. Robert Macmillan is a graduate of the University of Munich, where he excelled in the Department of Sciences, earning a master’s degree in biotech engineering.

A multifaceted individual who has excelled in various businesses. In addition to his academic achievements, he is a savvy businessman who started his career as a broker. Over the years, he has strategically invested in multiple companies, holding shares in several multi-million-dollar enterprises. His journey from brokerage to becoming a significant shareholder in thriving companies underscores his remarkable entrepreneurial acumen and financial success.

With his diverse background and a deep appreciation for cultural heritage, Mr. Koch has dedicated over Three decades to curating and preserving a remarkable collection of African and Oceanic art.”


Robert Mcmillan Koch is a third-generation antique dealer and a graduate of Munich University. He is also the Adviser of international polo federation Switzerland , known for his deep appreciation of heritage and cultural diversity. Since 1992, he has been involved in the world of African Art in Basel, Switzerland. Robert currently possesses a private collection comprising over 2000 pieces. This collection includes a wide range of sculptures, traditional masks, and exquisite ancient historical antiquities dating back to the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.
